Grafa Grown
This student project explores the creation of a sub-brand, product, and packaging design for Grafa, an artisan gardening tools business based in Melbourne.
The result is the Six Seed Kit—a fun and engaging add-on for gardening enthusiasts. Designed with beginners in mind, the kit allows customers to plant something immediately upon bringing home their new tools, making the introduction to gardening simple and enjoyable.

Packaging Design
The packaging features a unique hexagonal design, made of triangular segments, each holding a different seed variety. Users can unfold the structure, tear off a segment, and plant it directly in the soil for a hassle-free experience. The packaging is biodegradable, enriching the soil and supporting plant growth.
Sustainability is central to the design. Made from recycled cardstock and natural materials, the packaging decomposes organically when buried. A biodegradable ribbon serves as the display strap, and dextrin adhesive, a water-soluble, non-toxic, biodegradable glue, ensures strong bonding.
Each segment contains coco peat (coir), a natural fiber from coconut husks that is anti-fungal, well-aerated, and moisture-retentive. Rich in essential nutrients, it provides an optimal environment for seed germination while securely holding the seeds in place.
