Anne’s Window

This student project is a relaunch of Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, originally published in 1908.

The mini-publication features Chapter IV, designed as a teaser to inspire readers to explore the original novel. Supporting touch points developed include tote bags, bookmarks, the novel with a redesigned book cover, and a website that serves as a central hub for engagement. The site hosts a book club inspired by Anne’s “story club” from the original novel, creating a space for readers to connect online and through live events. Additionally, it offers access to eBook, audiobook, and printed editions, along with themed merchandise. This relaunch combines the charm of tradition with modern interactive elements, appealing to a socially conscious and digitally savvy audience.

Anne of Green Gables

Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery tells the story of Anne Shirley, a spirited orphan with a vivid imagination. Once viewed as a nostalgic children's tale, the novel remains a classic exploring themes of friendship, identity, and rural life.

This reboot repositions the story for Gen Z, emphasising themes of individuality, belonging, and resilience. Anne’s journey reflects values of authenticity, inclusivity, and self-expression, making her a relatable, inspirational figure for today’s digitally savvy readers. By blending timeless themes with modern formats, the reboot inspires a new generation with Anne’s creativity, resilience, and ability to find beauty in the everyday.

Mini-Publication

The mini-publication Anne’s Window captures the "window of opportunity" Anne discovers at Green Gables in Chapter IV, symbolised by die-cut windows. Semi-transparent tracing paper overlays offer readers a glimpse into Anne’s perspective, while photographic imagery on the outer side reflects scenes that might capture her imagination. The vertical z-fold structure replaces traditional page-turning, enhancing the experience of unfolding Anne’s world and encouraging physical interaction, play, and creativity—qualities that reflect her character. A QR code on the final page directs readers to an interactive website.
